This just in From Fired Up Missouri:
FiredUpMissouri.com is pleased to help announce the launch of the Camp Russ
Carnahan training program! This is an important political training program
that teaches the fundamental skills needed to manage a campaign, run for
office, or advocate for an issue.

This training follows in the tradition of the original Camp Carnahan, which
began in 1997 and trained hundreds of political organizers and candidates
who went on to volunteer or work on campaigns, or successfully run for
office.

We hope you can join this 2.5-day training session, which will be held over

Event update: Kenny will be "out in the District on both the 17th and 18th", and so we will be meeting with his staff on the 17th. We have been assured that "There will be someone here to meet with you." While a bit disappointing, the Congressional staffers are actually very key to the process of feeding constituent concerns to the Reps, so this may make for a most productive event. Press releases to go out this weekend.

Our Representative has a history in the lead up to the war, of promoting the premise of weapons of mass destruction. We believe he should want to have a complete investigation of the administration's apparent policy of deception, as he seems as much victim in the misinformation campaign as the rest of us.

A meeting with Rep Hulshoff has been requested for us to convey to him this message:

We all support the troops in Iraq. However, we believe that there are many unanswered questions about the buildup to the Iraq War that should be examined. We’re urging our congressional representatives to call for full hearings to determine the truth about the Downing Street Memos and whether the President misled us. Congress should also examine whether the Administration has a plan to get us out of Iraq.

We are also joining more than 40 members of Congress to support a Resolution of Inquiry which, if passed, will require the White House and the State Department to "transmit all information relating to communication with officials of the United Kingdom between January 1, 2002, and October 16, 2002, relating to the policy of the United States with respect to Iraq."

Senator Talent will be in Fayette on Thursday August 18.

Missourians United to Protect Social Security should take this opportunity to make our voices heard. We will meet at 2:45 in front of the Howard County Jail. Talent's press conference is scheduled at 3:15 that afternoon.

Our plan is to have a couple of speakers for those attending. We will present Senator Talent with a letter that requests him to meet in a town hall setting in Kansas City, St. Louis and Mid-Missouri to discuss privatization

We will have signs and leaflets but what we really need is people. This may be our only opportunity in Mid-Missouri for us to show Senator Talent this is an important issue in Rural Missouri.
